Most of the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note users have been waiting for the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade. Samsung promised that by the end of first quarter the upgrade will roll out and it seems nearing. Tech Blogger Eldar Murtazin tweeted that the upcoming Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for Galaxy Note and Galaxy S 2 will be available this March 1, 2012.

The March 1 release from Samsung is still a rumor and I have still doubts if this is real. But for now, I will just wait and hold my breath. I already seen the few leaks of the Android 4.0 running under the Touch Wiz UI 4. If you are using Samsung phones with Android 2.3 Gingerbread the experience is the same.

I really like the original Android 4.0 UI because of its simplicity and the Roboto font however Samsung will still use the current Touch Wiz UI 4 and if you ask me, the feel will be the same as you are running Android 2.3.

So, lets just hope that the international and unlock version of Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note will have the first taste of the ICS upgrade.

If you have any news and if you get the first update, let us know by commenting below.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich rescheduled to Oct 27/android-news/samsung-galaxy-nexus-google-android-40-ice-cream-sandwich-rescheduled-oct-27/ /android-news/samsung-galaxy-nexus-google-android-40-ice-cream-sandwich-rescheduled-oct-27/#comments Fri, 07 Oct 2011 16:52:04 +0000 /?p=1702 nexus prime eventually Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich rescheduled to Oct 27The Android rumors that surround the Android community spreads like a wildfire. Right after reporting that the Mobile unpacked 2011 is postponed where Nexus Prime and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be presented to the pubic, there is an update to that news.

According to an anonymous source from The Next Web, that event has been moved back to October 27th, possibly set at a London but no official confirmation from both Samsung and Google. There are speculation that the main reason of the postponement was the untimely death of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs last Wednesday, just a little respect to the great man I guess.

The Next Web is trying to get some official words from Google but they are quiet at this moment and one of the TNW connection said that they “should be there” at CTIA in October 11. This also gives a benefit of the doubt that Google will eventually announce the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at this event but the official launching of the Nexus Prime “Galaxy Nexus” will be due this Oct. 27.

With the latest video teaser of the Nexus Prime, the leak ‘real specs’ and the latest Nexus Prime video in action are enough to sustain our curiosity for the upcoming Google Nexus flagship.

Samsung Hercules – specs, release date revealed/android-news/samsung-hercules-specs-release-date-revealed/ /android-news/samsung-hercules-specs-release-date-revealed/#comments Mon, 11 Jul 2011 15:10:22 +0000 /?p=1345 samsung hercules Samsung Hercules specs, release date revealedIt seems that Samsung is changing its naming convention from Galaxy to Greek Gods? An upcoming Samsung Android phone is named after one of the famous Greek God – Hercules. The Samsung Hercules was mentioned last May and no information has been revealed ever since and now it seems it is rolling out this September 26, 2011.

The roll out schedule was leak in a T-Mobile roadmap. The specs is astonishing, it is still powered by Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread and surprisingly it will not be powered by either Samsung’s very own Exynos chipset nor Nvidia Tegra  2. The processor is a 1.2Ghz  Qualcomm dual-core APQ8060. The display is a SUPER AMOLED Plus – true to life color experience.

This is one of the Android smartphone with a wide screen at 4.5inches. It is capable of 1080p video recording and the storage is at 16GB ROM and 1GB of RAM so it will eat anything you can through at it.

Samsung Hercules Specs:

  • CPU: 1.2Ghz  Qualcomm dual-core APQ8060
  • OS: Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • RAM: 1GB
  • ROM: 16 GB
  • Expandable up to 32GB
  • Display: 4.5 inches
  • Resolution: 480 x 800 Super Amoled Plus display
  • Camera: 8 MP camera with 1080p video capture
  • Front facing camera for video chat
  • NFC Support
  • 42Mbps HSPA+ capable
  • Micro USB transfer for HDMI
  • 5.16 x 2.76 x 0.37 inches

If Samsung Hercules will stand for its name it will be one of the toughest smartphone because it is rugged and can inclement weather. No price tag yet so we have to wait for more info about this phone.

If Samsung is really gonna change its naming convention then their might be Zues or Neptune in the future?

I also suspect that this phone will become an alternative to Samsung Galaxy S2 which is still not available in the US Market.

Google Nexus 3 along with Android Ice Cream Sandwich?/android-news/google-nexus-3-android-ice-cream-sandwich/ /android-news/google-nexus-3-android-ice-cream-sandwich/#comments Wed, 11 May 2011 16:24:39 +0000 /?p=1134 Andy Rubin Google Google Nexus 3 along with Android Ice Cream Sandwich? One of the striking question at the Q/A – Google I/O 2011 Day is “Will Ice Cream Sandwich require phones with more processing power now that the complex holographic UI is confirmed to be making its way to phones?”  “Maybe, maybe not.” Andy Rubin answered.

As Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich announced, we can assume that it will accompanied by a new Nexus phone and in the history of Nexus family, this will be the third member. Google always release Nexus phone along with new version of Android to set the bars for all Android phones. The specs of Nexus is always top of the line and we can expect that the next generation will out perform other phones.

The Google Nexus 3 might be the first  Dual Core phone in the family probably powered by Nvidia Tegra 2. The Nvidia Tegra 2 is the king of the hill when it comes to mobile processor and favorite choice of OEMs. Also there are some speculation that the Nexus 3 might be the first quad-core Android phone powered by Nvidia Tegra 3, five times powerful than the Tegra 2.

So far this are raw news and we can expect more information about this build in coming months. So what do you think about the Nexus 3? A quad-core or a dual core phone?

Unlocked Bootloader on future Samsung Android Devices/android-news/unlocked-bootloader-future-samsung-android-devices/ /android-news/unlocked-bootloader-future-samsung-android-devices/#comments Thu, 21 Apr 2011 09:28:12 +0000 /?p=1002 unlocked bootloadertwitter 300x126 Unlocked Bootloader on future Samsung Android DevicesOne of the reason why we loved Android phones over other smartphones is the ability to use third-party custom ROMs. A rumored news from Androidguys that Samsung will use unlocked bootloaders to their future Samsung Android devices unless specified by Google.

This is a good news because rooting and flashing on new Samsung devices will be fairly easy. Secured bootloaders are almost impossible to crack, so lets hope it’s true. According to supercurio, the source is reliable enough.

I am as confident as I can be without testing it by myself. I cannot tell otherwise for me this kind source have always been true.

Google Nexus Tablet courtesy of LG – rumor/android-news/google-nexus-tablet-courtesy-lg-rumor/ /android-news/google-nexus-tablet-courtesy-lg-rumor/#comments Tue, 29 Mar 2011 11:18:32 +0000 /?p=901 Tablets are the hottest devices today from Apple’s Ipad  2 to Android 3.0 Honeycomb Tablets and  Google will join the war soon. Google is now working with LG to develop the  Google  Nexus Honeycomb Tablet. Yes! Google’s  very own Tablet.

Nexus Tablet Google Nexus Tablet courtesy of LG rumor

According to the rumored news only LG agrees to Google’s term for building the Nexus Tablet.  I guess this is another reason why the Honeycomb Source code has been delayed for public release and Google is polishing the Honeycomb for their own tablet. Many claimed that the  Android 3.0 Honeycomb is buggy and unpolished.

Like the Nexus Phones, Google will try to establish true Android Tablet experience. Many of the OHA members customized their own Android and use their own UI. Unlike Nexus it uses the real Android UI.

Currently no other news about Nexus Tablet’s hardware specs, release date and Honeycomb improvements. But one thing is for sure, until Google finally releases its own tablet in the market then they will finally release the Honeycomb source code.  The delay in the release will limit Chinese OEM to have access in the source code for their own generic tablets.

Samsung is trying to be the leading Android seller here in the Philippines by bringing here High-end Android Phones. The expected release will be this March or April.  With the SRP of 28, 500, I considered this to be good deal for the reason that the street price of Google Nexus S here is around Php 35K. Google is also performing very well in updating there own branded phone.
