In line with Samsung’s unveiling of the revamped Galaxy Note, the largest of its line also received some changes as it was seen in the company’s Unpacked 2013 event.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, much like the Note 3 will have a massive 3GB RAM and an upgraded screen resolution, bumping it to 2560×1600 pixels or 299ppi. Long Term Evolution (LTE) will also be incorporated in the 2014 Edition of the Galaxy Note 10.1.

The Korean based powerhouse also gave the Note 10.1 a faux-leather back cover and again, just like the Note 3. In all, the Galaxy Note 10.1 is the steroid version of the Note 3 (aren’t they all :D)

Also revealed during the event is the partner in crime of both the Note 3 and the Note 10.1 2014 Edition, the Galaxy Gear.

First and foremost, the Galaxy Gear is a watch, but not just an ordinary watch: Samsung equipped the Gear with a camera and is made out of stainless steel. The strap is an unknown material but is flexible enough to support the entire gadget.

On a single charge, the Galaxy Gear can give the user 25 hours and with sensors detecting “hand signals and waves during operation”.

The Galaxy Gear, when it comes out (probably by October also) will be available in six colorways: Jet Black, Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold, and Lime Green and will shed $299 off your wallet.

Expect the Note 10.1 to be out by September 25 and will be available globally by October.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7 and 10.1) is the upcoming ICS Tablet  from Samsung. This was announced last February and expected to be released last March but its already April and no Tab 2 on market shelves. The reason for the delay of the Galaxy Tab 2 is the Ice Cream Sandwich. Samsung and Google is working closely to make the Galaxy Tab 2 to work well with ICS operating system. The Galaxy Tab 2 will be available at the end of April in UK.
Samsung faced  delays in the release of ICS on their Android phones. It started with the promise that the Galaxy Note ICS upgrade in Q1 and now it is moved to Q2. The ICS upgrade for Galaxy S II is currently available for the International version (I9100) and carrier variants are still waiting for their specified update because carrier branded S II needs more scrutiny from the carriers.

The good guys from LaptopMag did the test using the new iPad versus ASUS Transformer prime powered by Tegra 3. The result shows that the iPad 3 GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) is no way faster than the Tegra 3 as it claims to be 5x faster. The physics and details of Tegra 3 is unquestionable, while the iPad 3 A5X is lacking details as it was tested in the game Shadow Gun. Shadow Gun is one of the most intesive 3D mobile game “the quad-core Tegra 3 blew its competitor way as it achieved an overall score of 1,571 to the A5X’s 692. On the integer (1391 to 614), floating point (2408 to 825) and memory subtests (1076 to 784), the Tegra 3 dominated, but the A5X bested it by a small margin of 324 to 266 on the stream subtest.”

ASUS MEMO 370T | DeviceMag

There’s been whistling around that Google is currently building its very first Google Nexus Tablet. This rumored Tablet is very cheap that its price is almost half the price of current Android Tablet.  The first expected price was in range from 249- $299, and now reported from DeviceMag, the price should be around $149 – $200 and that is cheap!

ASUS is rumored to be the official partner and in the process of manufacturing with expected release date of May of 2012.  The Nexus Tablet has a 7-inch display size and will be using ASUS MeMo 370T processor and not be using the well celebrated Tegra 3 processor form Nvidia.

The “Nexus Tablet” is just the code name for this device and no formal word from Google and Nvidia if the device is in existence but we can’t avoid to speculate because one senior supply chain employee confirmed that both companies are already in agreement.

So, lets hope that this device will arrive sooner or later because high-end Android tablets is bit pricey and so is Apple iPad. With the price from $149 to $200 this is a price killer in the Tablet market and probably will be the cheapest Android tablet in the Philippines with performance like those of higher spec devices.

Nvidia and its partner ZTE announced the pure Nvidia Smartphone - ZTE Mimosa X. This the first smartphone to be powered by all Nvidia technologies. The CPU+GPU is the Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC and Nvidia Icera 450 HSPA+ modem (14 HSPA+ with IceClear interference cancellation technology).

Other than this is a pure Nvidia smartphone this phone is powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The display is 4.3″ (960 x 540) display, a rear 5-megapixel camera (HD video capable), front facing camera, 4GB of storage (expandable to 32GB).

Motorola XYBOARD ‘WiFi only’ is now available for pre-order in the U.S. The Motorola XYBOARD has two versions, the 10.1 an 8.2. Both are running on a 1.2 Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM, Gorilla Display, 5MP-Rear Camera and 1.3MP for front. It is powered by Android 3.2 Honeycomb but Motorola will provide update for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

HP TouchPad found a new life when Android 2.3 Gingerbread was ported to it and Cyanogenmod team started to give support to the dying tablet. The CM 7 update for HP Touchpad was released last September 11, 2011 and users find it satisfactory because of some glitches.  

Now, that CM is almost finish with this project, HP TouchPad is given a second life thanks to CM9  though in the test it shows some laggy performance but it is taken and I know that CM Dev team will give their best in improving more Android 4.0 for HP TouchPad. Some of the most important feature is working well like the Wireless and Bluetooth. Games runs smoothly as it runs Angry Bird in the demo. They currently working right on the Video Playback but they are getting there.
When CM say it is coming soon, this means that by couple weeks we can see CM 9 in action not only in TouchPad but in other smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S II.
