LG to stop developing Tablets

LG-Electronics

The tablet market is expected to grow by around $80 million dollars this year lead by Apple Inc., and competition is tough. LG electronics of Korea is one of the top company in consumer electronics and top 4 smartphone manufacturer will stop developing tablets instead the company will focus on smartphones alone.

“We’ve decided to put all new tablet development on the back burner for the time being in order to focus on smartphones,” Ken Hong, a spokesman for Seoul-based LG. LG produced tablet namely the Optimus Pad or Optimus Pad LTE which competed with names like iPad and Galaxy Tablets.

The post PC era opens a new way of computing especially to people who wants mobility and connectivity. Laptop is still useful but if you are in hurry and just want to check your emails and social networking smartphone and tablets are the best tools for this kind of task. If LG will  no longer produce tablets, there is no loser or winner if you ask me because of alternatives are every where. The market share of iPad, Eee Pad, Xoom and Galaxy are already stable even in the presence of LG tablets.

No one will miss them, they have hardly made a niche in the tablet market IMHO.
