Samsung Galaxy S III will have its own launch event this summer
In few weeks time, The Mobile World Congress 2012 - the gathering of smartphone manufacturers and one of them is Samsung. At last year’s MWC 2011 the show stopper was the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S II and in the upcoming MWC 2012 many have thought that Samsung will unveil their 2012 flagship. The much anticipated Galaxy S III will not be at Mobile World Congress 2012. TechRadar received a confirmation from Samsung that they [Samsung] will not unveil the Galaxy S III and instead Sammy will have its own event for the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S III.
“Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012. The successor to the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.”
There is no real reason is to why Samsung will not include the S III at MWC 2012 but Samsung promised that they will do public release of some of their mobile phones and tablets. Many tech blogs already gave their assumptions and I will give mine too.
Why there is no Galaxy S III at MWC 2012?
- Samsung Galaxy S III is too much for MWC 2012 – Engadget
- Samsung is doing some finishing touches especially in the patent side. We all know that Apple just had the patent for slide to unlock.
- Samsung Galaxy S III, Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Note are still the best seller among high-end Android devices and strong competitor for iPhone 4 and 4S.
- Samsung Galaxy S III early release will affect the sales of the three hottest Samsung Android devices namely the Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Nexus.
- Samsung Galaxy S III will compete head to head with the upcoming Apple iPhone 5.
Personally this is a good move for Samsung to have it own event. The MWC will be loaded with 2012 Android devices from various OEM like HTC, SONY, Motorola that it might share some spot.
Last year was different, the Galaxy S II was highly awaited device because it was one of the few dual-core smartphone and the thinnest smartphone in the world.
Samsung is planning to publicly announce the S III by around mid-yer and will release the device in following month. Basically this is the same with the announcement of the Galaxy Nexus. Another thing to consider is that with media mileage, people will know more about the Galaxy S III and its keep secret specs.
The source is reliable enough and I believe it compared to other tech bloggers who said that it will be at MWC. Personally the Galaxy S III deserve its own unveiling event because it is one of the best smartphone in the world. Samsung is succcessful with their partnership with Google Android that it is one of their cash cow.
As I said, Samsung is trying to match the iPhone 5. The only difference is that S III predecessors like the S II, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Nexus are so successful while Apple iPhone 4S release was not will accepted as they [apple fanboys] are looking forward for iPhone 5. This time we can see good match up between the two, and let’s see who will win.
P.S: This give me time to save, and move from S II to S III…:)
