android invasion2012 is not the end of the world but their will be an Android invasion. I am talking about the Android powered smartphones not killer robots. In the recent study from Gartner Inc., “Worldwide smartphone sales will reach 468 million units in 2011, a 57.7 percent increase from 2010, according to Gartner Inc. By the end of 2011, Android will move to become the most popular operating system (OS) worldwide and will build on its strength to account for 49 percent of the smartphone market by 2012″. If the predictions are correct by 2012 50% of the world smartphones is powered by Android.

Nokia is the number one manufacturer of mobile phone in the world but recently announced that they will no longer support Symbian OS thus Android OS filling the gap as Nokia adopts Microsoft Mobile OS. The member of open-handset alliance like Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and LG will dominate the Android market and they’re releasing cheaper android phones. Apple iOS (iPhone) will still dominate the second spot along with RIM Blackberry in the third spot.

Android in the Philippines is still in the infant stage while in the United States it is now the number one mobile operating system. A country that predominantly uses Symbian phones like Nokia, Android in the Philippines is growing with more affordable Android phones available in the market thus converting more Pinoy Android users.
