Samsung Galaxy S II Firmware DXKL3 Android 2.3.6 update – improved battery life
Last night I screwed up my phone by restoring it to the factory settings and lost my valuable data though I was able to restore my back up then I decided to check Samsung Kies for any update. It’s been a month since I checked the firmware update and to my surprise Samsung Philippines released an update. Originally the out of the box firmware for my Galaxy S 2 was DXKI1 and back in December I updated my system to DXKI2.
The DXKI2 firmware is a stable build though like any other version of Android 2.3.3 the problem is the Battery Life. So I decided to update my Firmware from DXKI2 to the official DXKL3. The DXKL3 is an Android 2.3.6 build and composed of a new firmware and baseband.
I noticed that the battery life did improve. After the update at around 3AM and when I woke up around 9AM the Battery was at 98%. For 5 hours standby a 2% reduction in power is a very big saver compared to the old firmware it would consume around 20% in stand by.

So, if you have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and still using an old firmware, check your Kies 2 and update to DXKL3.
