The most anticipated Gaming smartphone for Android is officially announced. Sony Ericsson unveiled the Xperia Play to the public at the newly open Mobile World Congress 2011. Based on the leaks few months back it is confirmed that it has Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The processor is a second generation snapdragon, although this is a gaming smartphone this is not a dual-core phone.
The GPU that powers the gaming machine is the Qualcomm Adreno 205 CPU. It has a decent display at 4inches with 854×480 capacitive display.
The camera is a 5Megapixel with LED Flash. Connectivity are pretty the same with other Android Smartphone, like Bluetooth, Wifi (b/g/n). For Multimedia it has a streo speakers, perfect also for gaming.
What stands out with XPERIA play is its PlayStation Certified Controls. Meanwhile the Adreno GPU provides rich gaming graphics up to 60FPS (Frame per Second). According the Christophe – the gentleman at the video – at its launch atleast 50 games are available and the preinstalled games will vary per carrier that offers XPERIA PLAY.
Games like Asphalt 6, FIFA 2011, Bruce Lee – Fighting Game, and Galaxy on Fire 2, Gun Brothers, are available on XPERIA Play. There are no words yet if it can support PSX games or not. Don’t think that only Sony Games are available for this device, all Android Games can be played in XPERIA like any other Android smartphones and Tablets.
