Google I/O – Donate your Android phone for charity
Google I/O 2011 is coming this May 10-11, 2011 in San Francisco. The Google I/O “brings together thousands of developers for two days of deep technical content, focused on building the next generation of web, mobile, and enterprise applications with Google and open web technologies such as Android, Google Chrome, Google APIs, Google Web Toolkit, App Engine, and more.”
Dubbed as “Android for Good“. Google is asking all their attendees to donate their unwanted, unlock Android phones (T-Mobile G1, Nexus One, Nexus S and other phones powered by Android). The phone must be in good working condition.
The proceeds will go to various charity programs of the company. Here are some of the programs that they are supporting, Save the Elephants in Kenya, Grameem’s AppLab Community Knowledge Worker Initiative in Uganda, VillageReach in Mozambique, VetAid in Kenya and Tanzania, V-Day in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and UNHCR in Central Africa.
The collection point will be at Google Booth located at the third floor of the Moscone Center, San Francisco USA.
