After the successful launching of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich yesterday Android OEM like HTC and Motorola announced their plans for the new Android OS. Motorola promised that they will roll out OTA update for their new release Motorola RAZR in early 2012.
Another Android player, Sony Ericsson posted in their Facebook Neatherlands about their own upgrade plans. All 2011 Xperia phones will be getting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in 2012. It is just not clear when that exactly.
Sony Ericsson is one of the best in upgrade performance this year in my opinion. Who would thought that the Xperia X10 will get the taste of the Gingerbread update from Android 1.6 to Androdi 2.3.4.
The Xperia 2011 family that will be surely getting Android 4.0 update are the following, Xperia Arc, Xperia Play, Xperia Neo, Xperia Ray, Xperia neo family. This is the English translation of the Dutch Sony Ericsson Facebook post.
We are planning our 2011 Xperia smartphone portfolio after Gingerbread 2.3.4. upgrade to the next Android platform. The official Sony Ericsson communication about software upgrades will always be my international colleagues publish on our Blog: http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/
Lets just hope that Sony Ericsson will roll out the Android 4.0 update as early as possible. I know many Xperia users are excited with the ICS features.
