The Android operating system history started in the oven of Palo Alto, California with main man Andy Rubin now the VP of Google Mobile along with Rich Miner, Nick Sears and Chris White. In 2005 Google acquired Android Inc., and in the year 2008 the first bake of Android came out, the Android 1.0 powering the HTC T-Mobile G1.
Google already released 8 versions of Android in the past 5 years and the latest is the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Android continues to dominate the smartphone market, it already over took Apple iOS in the US. With the strong cooperation between Google and Open Handset Alliance Android is growing stronger despite of patent infringement cases from its main rival Apple Inc.
