Huawei Idios 7 may not be the latest Slate in town and not as powerful as Xoom or Galaxy Tab 10.1 but this Slate is a good alternative to those top of the line Tablets. As we know that Xoom will cost around $800 USD during its launch and Galaxy Tab 10.1 pricing is yet to be known.
The display is 7-inch at 800x480pixels pretty decent for browsing the web. It supports GSM/EDGE/GPRS and HSDPA for faster surfing. It has bluetooth and WiFi connectivity for its wireless connection. However the camera is not that good at 2MP and 720p for multimedia playback. It weighs 500g and 15.5mm thick. Idios’ price is around $300USD, around P16,000.00 in Philippine pesos.
The biggest downside of this tablet is not the hardware, its Cortex A8 processor is enough for its needs but its Android 2.1 Eclair is. Eclair does not support flash. However there are rumors that Huawei will update to at least Froyo which can support Flash 10.1 for Android.
